My post last week on Web Services Monitoring in Operations Manager and Essentials prompted some great feedback. As it turns out, Avicode, the authors of the free ASP.NET 2.0 management have written a overview on the ASP.NET 2.0 Management Pack, available at the link below. There’s an additional link below to a review of the commercial version of?.NET management packs, which offers additional functionality over the free ASP.NET 2.0 MP on the installation media.

An Overview of the ASP.NET 2.0 Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007
The Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 Management Pack enables Operations Manager 2007 to monitor ASP.NET 2.0 applications, including both aspx and asmx services running on IIS 6.0. Through a development and license agreement, AVIcode built this management pack for Microsoft. It is included with Operations Manager 2007, collects unhandled exceptions in ASP.NET applications and web services, monitors for poor performance of these applications based on customizable service levels, and auto discovers .NET applications running on monitored servers. This whitepaper provides an introduction to the ASP.NET 2.0 Management Pack, how to import it, and how to begin monitoring applications with it.

A Guide to Diagnosing .NET Application Health Problems with Operations Manager 2007
The AVIcode .NET Management Pack extends Operations Manager 2007 by enabling a comprehensive view of application behavior and providing a real-time diagnosis of code failures and performance bottlenecks. This white paper demonstrates how the AVIcode .NET Management Pack can be used with Operations Manager 2007 to provide complete end-to-end performance monitoring for line of business applications, service level availability (SLA) monitoring, analysis of code failures and performance problems, pinpointing of load balancing issues, and deeper understanding of historical performance trends.?
