Course:Ops Mgr Installation and Configuration (Back to Top)
Number of Days:Two (2)
Description:This two-day course is a mix of in-depth instructor led training and hands-on labs where you will learn about the new features, server roles and components included in Operations Manager 2007. You will also learn how to plan and design an Operations Manager 2007 architecture. In this course you will also look at the issues involved in migrating from MOM 2005 to Operations Manager 2007 and how to ensure that you achieve and then surpass feature parity between the two applications. This class will also have attendees look at the migration path or lack thereof and the need for a parallel installation. Here we will discuss best practices for agent deployed and the decommissioning of the MOM 2005 infrastructure. Once attendees have an understanding of architectural planning, they will procedure with the installation of the Operations Manager database server, Root Management Server and Reporting Server and the deployment of agents and the importing of management packs. Once the core installation components are in place, attendees will learn about the installation and configuration of advanced components including Audit Collection Services, PKI, certificate deployment and the Gateway server. This course will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to System Center Operations Manager 2007
This module provides an overview of the new features and functionality included in System Center Operations Manager 2007.
- System Center Operations Manager 2007 Architecture
This module focuses on the components that make up System Center Operations Manager 2007 including the extensibility pieces that provide support for some native functionality such as sms text notifications.
- Planning and Designing System Center Operations Manager 2007
This module looks at System Center Capacity Planner v2 as a tool to assist you in validating an existing architectural design or creating a new architectural design. We will also look at how MP Studio from Silect Software can be used to evaluate your MP customizations and determine what rules have been added or modified in your existing implementation.
- Migrating from MOM 2005 to System Center Operations Manager 2007
This module will look at how to run the MP Migration tool and migrate certain types of rules from MOM 2005 MPs to System Center Operations Manager 2007 MPs.
- Installing System Center Operations Manager 2007
This module will focus on the installation of the Operations Manager 2007 database, Root Management Server, Web Console, and Reporting Server. This module will also discuss the clustering support for each of the Ops Mgr components.

Description: This two-day course is a mix of in-depth instructor led training and hands-on labs that focuses on the mechanics on Operations Manager 2007 to provide the Operations Manager administrator and consultant the information they require to administer Operations Manager 2007. The consultants who deliver the course are also accomplished consultants with excellent presentation skills that make the delivery interesting.
